Richland Center, WI – A healthy orthopedics practice continues to grow at The Richland Hospital and Clinics with the addition of Orthopedic Surgeon Sheila Algan, M.D., who will begin work on February 1, 2026. Dr. Algan’s expansive work in orthopedic surgical services, focusing on adolescent and adult sports medicine including knee ligament reconstruction and repair, fulfills an important need in our total care services.

“Adding another orthopedic surgeon to our group strengthens our ability to meet a need in our area for advanced musculoskeletal care,” says Brian Puls, Vice President, Clinic Services. “Orthopedic services are essential to helping patients maintain mobility, recover from injuries, and improve their quality of life, benefits that ripple throughout our community.”

As a Board-Certified Orthopedic surgeon, this Wisconsin resident received her medical degree from UW-Madison and completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania, while receiving her fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the University of Arizona. In addition to her growing surgical expertise, Dr. Algan is also a published researcher, presenter and educator on related topics at the national and international level.

“I am very excited to work with our emergency department and primary care provider teams to supply members of the community with great quality local care,” says Dr. Algan.

Dr. Algan’s impressive resume in treating patients at various ages and stages of life over her 30-year career, including a strong focus on recovery, will be a vital addition to our core care team which includes Dr. Thomas Beck and Dr. Wallace Brucker. “Richland Center already has a strong orthopedic presence and I’m looking forward to adding to that, especially in the care of the young, athletic members of the community,” adds Dr. Algan.
