Richland Center, WI – The Richland Hospital Foundation, together with Partners of The Richland Hospital and Clinics, hosted their first tree lighting celebration aptly called “Lights of Reflection.” The event was held Thursday, December 4, at 5 PM. “Isn’t it pretty?” said Dorothy Hackle, Foundation Board Member, as she gazed at the well-lit tree adorned with red, white, and blue strands. “Each light is more than a decoration. Each is a beautiful tribute,” said Angie Coenen, director of The Richland Hospital Foundation.

The tree represented donations that have poured in from people honoring, thanking, and memorializing friends, family, and groups who are important in their lives. White lights honor the memory of someone special, red lights represent a living tribute, and blue lights pay tribute to health care heroes and active military service members. During the ceremony, Mark Jelinek, Foundation Board Member, read the names of those honored. “It brings the people back to us, hearing those names,” mused Jelinek who was proud to read each submission. “We weren’t really sure how this would go as it is our first year, but I think the success of it surprised all of us,” he added. The groups are already thinking of ways to make the celebration even bigger next year.

The lit tree will remain in the TRHC lobby through the holidays. You’ll see it on your way to the Lobby Shoppe where you’ll find amazing gifts.
