Geriatric Care for Outpatient Behavioral Health

Aging brings many joys – more time with family and freedom in retirement. However, our older years may also bring difficult life transitions including the loss of loved ones and stressors related to aging health concerns.

The Richland Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions program, an intensive outpatient group counseling program. It is designed to meet the unique needs of individuals over the age of 65 struggling with depression and anxiety, often related to aging.

How the Senior Life Solutions Program May be Right For You or a Loved One

If you or someone you know has experienced any of the following symptoms, this program may be right for you.

  • Recently experienced a traumatic event
  • Lost a spouse or close family member
  • Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities
  • Changes in appetite
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Loss of energy
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Feelings of sadness or grief lasting more than two weeks
  • Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness
How Do I Join Senior Life Solutions?

Following an individual assessment, participants meet three times per week in a supportive, encouraging group setting. The program staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed social workers, a registered nurse, and other professionals dedicated to the emotional well-being of the seniors in our community.

Family members, physicians, or other health professionals are able to refer individuals to the program.

Community Grief Support
Grief continues well after a loss and each individual experience is unique. Many who are grieving find it helpful to talk with others going through a similar experience.

To support you on your journey, Home Health United offers free grief support options to anyone in the community who has experienced loss, regardless of whether your loved one was a HHU patient or not.

In addition to this drop-in group, HHU offers sessions across our service area.

We are here to connect you with local services and resources to keep you living well and independently. We serve people:

  • Age 60 and older;
  • Age 18 and older with physical or developmental/ intellectual disabilities;
  • Age 18 and older with mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Caregivers, family, friends, and the community.
