Free community events to celebrate hospital centennial

May 23, 2024

Richland Center, WI – The Richland Hospital and Clinics (TRHC) celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Originally founded in 1924, the organization has provided care to area residents for generations.
As part of their centennial celebration, TRHC will sponsor three days of free admission at the Woodman Aquatic Center and a free 5K run/walk on September 15 to thank community members and encourage a healthy, active lifestyle. “This community is the source of our success,” says Director of Community Relations and Marketing Shawna Connor, “and these events are one way of saying thank you to those who trust us with their health care needs.”
The Richland Hospital Foundation is co-sponsoring the free admission days at the Woodman Aquatic Center. “We hope many families will mark their calendars and help us celebrate our history with a day at the pool,” says Foundation Director Angie Coenen. Free admission will be provided on the following days: Friday, June 21; Saturday, July 20; and Friday, Aug. 16.
The “Centennial Celebration” will take place at the Kilian Meyer Building at 950 N. Orange St. on Sunday, September 15. The 5k run/walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. Community members are encouraged to participate free of charge and to gather in the park after the race for food, refreshments, cake, lawn games, and music. This is a rain-or-shine event. Registration for the 5K will be required and opens on July 15 via the hospital website at RichlandHospital.com.  An RSVP for the after-race celebration is not expected.
Cara Watson-Owen is a physical therapist at TRHC and a member of the organization’s Wellness Committee. A lead organizer of the 5K run/walk, she says the community event will serve a dual purpose: “We’re eager to give people an invitation to bring more activity into their lives and celebrate the hospital’s long history.”
The Richland Hospital and Clinics is a nationally awarded health care facility dedicated to caring, educating, and healing. Providing compassionate care for nearly 100 years to residents of the greater Richland County area, TRHC operates an independent, integrated group medical practice in three locations, including rural health clinics in Spring Green and Muscoda and a critical access hospital at its primary location in Richland Center, WI.
