Richland Center, WI – The Richland Hospital and Clinics (TRHC) is pleased to announce the addition of another new family medicine provider with an obstetrics specialty, Dr. Mysa Nguyen.
Dr. Nguyen earned her degrees in Texas from Baylor University and the University of Texas Medical Branch. She joins us after completing her residency at John Peter Smith Family Medicine, providing comprehensive care to patients with a special emphasis on obstetrics, maternal child health care, and inpatient medicine.
Treating and working with entire families – and generations of families – in a rural setting is Dr. Nguyen’s ideal job, which is what drew her to TRHC. Even though Dr. Nguyen has lived in the city for twenty years, she could never shake her “country girl” roots.
Dr. Nguyen was born in Vietnam, where her family lived on a farm and enjoyed growing crops and raising animals. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was seven years old to find medical care for her sister’s heart condition, which was her first inspiration for medicine.
Those experiences have been an integral part of Dr. Nguyen’s desire to locate to a smaller, rural community, where she can get to treat and know her neighbors and perhaps have a hobby farm someday. When she first drove through the area and saw children playing outside, she felt like this was home.
Family medicine and obstetrics is important to Dr. Nguyen because, as she states, “I want to be a part of the community, and I want to take care of the community. That’s what really drives me to do this. I can’t wait to get to know and treat whole families, from delivering babies to adolescence to adulthood.”
In her spare time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys hiking, gardening, traveling, and cooking. Although she comes from Texas, Dr. Nguyen never enjoyed the heat and is really looking forward to her first Wisconsin fall and winter. She loves the autumn colors and weather and cannot wait for the snow.
