New Surgery WingThe Richland Hospital's new surgical wing offers state of the art equipment, top-notch surgeons, and caring, compassionate staff. Many procedures that once had to be performed in neighboring urban hospitals are now conveniently performed here. We are staffed 5 days per week and as needed when an emergency arrives at the hospital. The doctors and the hospital staff are on call 24 hours per day. Dr. Beck earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston, graduated from Medical School at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Texas - Houston. Possessing a strong interest in sports medicine and having developed a sports medicine program in Spirit Lake, IA, Dr. Beck is directing the Richland Sports Medicine Program.

Dr. Beck performs Oxford Partial Knee Replacements. "The Oxford Uni-compartmental Knee system can be an alternative to total knee joint replacement surgery," Dr. Beck said.

This procedure is less invasive than a full knee replacement. Removing 75% less bone and cartilage allows for a more rapide recovery. Unlike total knee replacement, involving removal of all the knee joint surfaces, this partial knee replacement replaces only the damaged portion of the knee joint.
