Female Athlete of the Year
Becca Campbell
Richland Center Junior - Volleyball & Basketball

Rebecca Campbell had a stellar year in Volleyball and Basketball.  She was awarded Athlete of the Month in the months of October for volleyball and in February for basketball.

Her volleyball coach submitted the following nomination: Rebecca had an excellent year. She has battled back from an early season injury that kept her out of part of a tournament and part of our first conference match.  Rebecca is an athlete that works 110% all the time, she is always trying to improve herself and her team.  She has developed into an excellent team leader and her peers respect her and value her opinions. Throughout the year, she has continued to improve her game play and her leadership on the court.

Rebecca is a 1st team All-Conference selection (for the 3rd year) and was also chosen by the coaches as this years Conference Most Valuable Player.

Becca finished the season with 271 kills an average of 2.84 per game, 33 service aces, 64 solo blocks and 221 digs.

Becca is an asset to the team and to the program, her hard work and dedication are examples for the younger athletes.

Rebecca was named to the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State team honorable mention list for the second year straight.

Rebecca was also unanimously voted by her teammates as this years Team Most valuable player, Rebecca was also one of two team captains this year for her leadership and ability to motivate her teammates.

Becca ran track this year and qualified for the state track meet in the Discus. This is the first year she has participated in track & field.

Her basketball coach submitted the following nomination: Becca led our team to the regional finals and helped the Hornets win their seventh conference championship in the last eight years.  Becca was named the SWC Conference MVP averaging almost 20 points per game during the season.  She also led the team in rebounds and steals as the Hornets went on to a 16-6 overall record.  Becca’s work ethic and passion for the game is shown each and every time she sets foot on the floor.  She is an instant “game-changer” and was an instrumental part of our success.  Please consider Becca for this award.

Male Athlete of the Year
Bradie Ewing
Richland Center Junior - Football, Basketball & Track

Bradie Ewing is the male Athlete of the Year following his huge year on the football field and on the basketball court. Bradie was Athlete of the Month in September and February. In addition, Bradie qualified for state in the 110 high hurdles, and was a member of the 2007 Division 2  State Championship Track & Field Team.

His football coach submitted the following nomination: Bradie has been a perennial force in football this season.  He has already acquired well over 800 yards rushing and 13 TD’s in five games. The PDC game alone he gained 259 rushing yards. When asked about how he accomplished this, he gives so much credit to his linemen teammates.  Bradie is an exceptional team player, who in my opinion, is the kind of person who we need to recognize.  He is always conscientious of others and gives credit to others often.  He is also an outstanding student here at Richland Center High School. Bradie exemplifies a strong student-athlete who puts in the extra time to get better.  Whether in the off season, or during the season, he leads by example, and is not critical of others.

Bradie rushed for 1168 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He was also a first team all conference selection, as well as being nominated for the All Area team.

His basketball coach said this about Bradie: Bradie went over 1,000 points for his career against Platteville this month.  Bradie also twice this month with the team trailing by 1 in the waning seconds having to shoot front end of bonuses, came through  both times making 2 free throws to win the ball game.  One was at home versus Highland the other down at Dodgeville, where he in the last minute of the game hit a 3 pointer to give the Hornets the lead, then followed up with the Free Throws.  The meeting was suppose to be in Feb. but was cancelled due to weather, but this past weekend Bradie was selected MVP of the Conference for a 2nd time.

Bradie Ewing during the basketball season topped the 1,000 point total for his career.  On the season he averaged 21 ppg, 6.5 rpg. over 3 assists a game along with more than 2 steals a game.  For this he was the MVP of the league yet again, and was named to the 1st Team All-Area Wisconsin State Journal team.  He received All-State Honorable Mention for both the AP and WBCA selection teams.
